Approximately 7 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer. The surgeries did a number on me, and I had to undergo some serious reconstruction in my abdomen and pelvic areas. The surgeries were to leave me partially crippled on my left side. As a result, I became inactive and gained approximately 60 pounds. This not only caused issues with my self-esteem, but also caused issues in my relationships with my loved ones.

“I’m not sure my story is all that unusual…. As a woman ‘of a certain age’ I struggle with maintaining a healthy lifestyle and weight. Kids, elder parents, work – who’s got time? I’m 53 and come from a long line of short round women! Determined not to be one of them I have worked at it for years – walking, biking, spin classes at the Y – but still after turning 40 I found myself heavier than I’d ever been. I needed something different so I signed up with a personal trainer and finally saw some results. Sadly, when the economy went south – so did my ability to keep the trainer. What kind of results can I expect?
By joining our Boot Camp program, you will be constantly motivated and encouraged to exercise in a team setting. You will decrease your fat mass, develop a more lean body, increase your flexibility, and have a ton of fun doing it! The First in Flight Fitness boot camp program is a specialized and professionally designed training program that integrates every aspect of health related physical fitness and is 100% GUARANTEED to get you results. Also, if you commit to the eating guidelines and do your best to stay on track, you will be amazed at the changes that can occur in your body. You will experience a decrease in stress and tension and a huge increase in energy levels and stamina. You will also improve your cardiovascular endurance, overall strength, as well as your flexibility.
What are boot camp classes like?
Our boot camp classes incorporate metabolic conditioning circuits, as well as high intensity interval training. In simpler terms, we carefully design the workouts with intervals and circuits that improve your cardiovascular endurance, as well as muscular strength and endurance. You are essentially getting the most BANG for your buck! These training methods help you maximize your results, and boost your metabolism so that you are burning lots of calories during class, but more importantly, more calories at rest. Proper warm ups and cool downs will include mobility exercises, flexibility training, as well as other methods aimed at ensuring that you recover appropriately and come back to class ready for action.
What do I bring?
Participants will need to dress in comfortable athletic attire and shoes. You will also need a mat, towel, pair of dumbbells, and WATER! We recommend 5-8 lb dumbbells for women beginning boot camp, and 8-12 lbs for men.
What if boot camp class is too challenging for me?
Our classes are designed to be challenging, but safety is of utmost importance. We will never ask you to do something that you aren’t physically prepared for. Our job is to provide a safe and effective workout each time that you come to class. We do that by offering plenty of options and modifications. Taking that first step and coming to class is usually the hardest. Once you get there, you will have an awesome experience. You can do this! We will make sure that you have an amazing experience while you work towards achieving better health and fitness.
What else is included in the program?
- Proper nutrition is just as important as exercise. You will receive a Boot Camp Success Manual that will outline our recommendations for fueling your body appropriately. Clients who follow the nutritional advice outlined will achieve much better results.
- Also included in the Boot Camp Success Manual are at home and travel workouts, for days when you are forced to miss class.
- Seeing your progress can be truly rewarding. We take initial measurements and body fat assessments when you begin the program, and track your success throughout to ensure that you stay on track with your goals.
- Building a community of like minded people is important to us! As a member, you will have access to a Members Only Webpage, where healthy recipes, workouts, and extra motivation are shared.
- As a member, you will also have access to ongoing fitness and nutrition workshops, as well as social events.
